Ottawa hosts many festivals throughout the year. From Winterlude in February, to the Tulip Festival in May, to Bluesfest in July, there's bound to be something happening when you visit. Gay Ottawa is home to an emerging Gay scene. Not too many years ago most people travelled across the bridge to Hull, Quebec, which had a very busy, fun gay nite life scene. Changes to liquor laws and a determined effort to clean up the "Hull Strip" shifted Gay life over to the Ottawa side. Gay Ottawa has several gay bars, a couple of gay saunas, and an up and coming Gay village in and around Somerset Street. The people are friendly, if maybe a touch conservative and reserved.
